The Value of Patience
May 20, 2026 / 6 min read
Patience is not passive waiting but active perseverance through difficulty.
Patience in the Islamic understanding is far more than waiting. It is an active state of self-control, trust in Allah, and steadfastness in the face of hardship.
The one who is patient does not simply endure. They continue to act rightly, speak carefully, and worship consistently even when the soul desires otherwise.
Patience in trials
Every believer will face tests. The distinguishing mark is not the absence of difficulty but the presence of patience during it.
Patience is strengthened through practice, through remembrance, and through keeping the Hereafter in view when the present feels heavy.
